most comfortable car I have owned

The forrester is the easiest transition from a sedan to an suv. The mpg is better than most suv's. The new 2010 model is bigger inside and the styling is more peasing to the eye.

Love it!

Test drove all the others,Honda Nissan,Toyota, ect. My wife and I are both 6ft2in and we both agreed that the Forester had the most head and leg room.Settled on the 2.5X Premium with the All Weather pkg.Handles well on gravel and snow covered roads.Very well mannered on the pavement with 25mpg average.Safety reviews speak for them-selves.Stereo could be better. Four speed Auto. trans. could be upgraded but has proven to be a reliable workhorse and is adequate.Overall a fine machine for the price.

Great Small SUV

Handles very well, you can fell the all wheel drive hug the road. No slippage on an uphill wet raod start. Feel safe in the vehicle. really like the tight turning radius comapred to our 2005 Equinox.

Elusive rear-end rattle

I'm beginning to have buyer's remorse, as my new one was delivered with frustrating rattle (e.g., over tar-strips or other minor imperfections in the roadway). Both the dealership and an independent garage I then took it to can HEAR the rattle, but can't find-and-eliminate it. Dealership loaned me an identical 2010 Forester while mine was in the shop; it had the exact same rattle. Looks like I must employ the classic Click 'n Clack solution: "Turn the radio up"

Excellent SUV!

We bought a 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5X Premium (with the all-weather package). This car is incredibly quiet inside and the transmission (automatic) is smooth and confident. We researched and drove every compact crossover SUV on the market ? RAV4, CRV, Rogue, etc. When we tested the Forester, our search was over. Of all the cars we researched before buying this one, none had the combination of reliability, visibility, safety, fuel economy, and features we were looking for. The 2010 Forester feels solid, with plenty of power to accelerate on freeways ? even without using the sport shift mode. It is fun to drive in town, hugs the curves with very little lean, and the massive moon roof is without comparison. The cabin feels spacious and headroom is substantially better than much larger SUVs (Pathfinder, 4Runner, etc.). Interior controls are simple to use and the sound system (with iPOD adapter) is good, although six speakers would be better. Steering wheel sound controls are excellent. Visibility from the driver?s seat is much better the other SUVs we tested. Outside, the styling and the 17? alloys look great. Just returned from our first road trip in this vehicle and mileage was a surprising 31+ MPG on the highway ? not bad for AWD! The 10-way electric adjustable driver?s seat (with lumbar support) is comfortable, and I?m looking forward to using the cold weather package (heated cloth seats, heated mirrors and heated windshield wiper feature) this winter. The Premium package included roof rails ? and after buying new Yakima towers ? we were able to transfer the roof rack (set up for bikes) from our last car. In my opinion, the Forester is safe, well built, fun to drive, and relatively ?green? ? all at the same time! Thanks, Subaru!

The Best Choice after MUCH Research!

My husband and I spent many weeks doing test drives, pricing inquiries, and internet surfing for our first new cross over suv. The Forrester was the last one we test drove, because we knew right then and there it was what we wanted! We looked at (and test drove) Hyundai Santa Fe and Tuscons, Kia Sportage, Chevy Equinox, Taurus X, Ford Freestyle, Mitsubishi Outlander, Jeep Cherokee, Ford Explorer, Jeep Liberty, Nissan Rogue and Murano . . . and the Forrester gave my 6'3" husband the most head room (by far!). I am transitioning from a car to an SUV and get motion sick easily, so the Forrester gives the most cargo space while still driving like a smooth car. It has the best gas mileage and is the best handling. We love it!

Theres a reason its motortrends SUV of the year!!

I usually buy a car after a year it comes out because they always have quirks they need to work out, luckily this one didnt! My forester is smooth, comfortable, and can handle cargo with ease. PROS - powertrain - smooth abundance of room inside styling - inside and out! MPG handles like its half the size it is quiet sport mode the puddle lights the MASSIVE sun roof CONS no V6 5 or 6 spd would be better cargo area is somewhat tilted towards the road no temp gauge (idiot lights instead) the seat belt alarm reacts with 2 gallons of milk in the seat.
