We have owned an 09' Land Cruiser for 4 years. It was purchased used with 30,000 miles and currently has 111,000. V8 - 381 HP. With the cost of gas at the time of purchase in 2011, one might think we were crazy! That was not a deterrent - especially for the reliability, safety, comfort and performance of this vehicle. We live in western NY and the Land Cruiser handles incredibly well in all weather, especially snow. LOTS of snow. During the 7ft. of snow we had this past year over several days, this car was driving by the stuck snow plows and towing people out of snow banks. Snow tires are always recommend in cold climates. Although it is visually a tank, it does ride smooth and handle much better than other full size SUV's (can only compare to a Tahoe and Pathfinder). Very comfortable on long trips. Roomy second row which the seats both recline and move back and forth. Third row is manageable, but not great for tall people on long trips. Reliability has been great. Tow's easily - we pull a 6,000 lb boat and although you can feel the weight, the Land Cruiser handles well and still accelerates promptly. Safety features are abound. In the event you slam on the breaks, the seat belt literally pins you against the seat. I'll admit the first time this happen it was startling. The crawl and downhill modes are excellent on vertical terrain - solid traction. This vehicle makes the many ski trips each year throughout the northeast enjoyable for our family of 5. You do get what you pay for with the Land Cruiser.
