I've had this car for 4 yrs. never a major problem. change the oil regularly will make it live for 10 yrs without being touched

We owned the diesel and the engineering is superb. The mileage is unbelievable. Great value.Very reliable and sporty. Would recommend to all.

I bought a brand new 2001 Jetta back in Oct 2000. Now it has 103,000 miles on it. It's just an okay car. Only 115 horsepower and MPG's low for a compact car (22/28). CRAMPED rear leg space. Reliability is also terrible. As soon as my car reached 100,000 miles i had a transmission problem and it cost me $2000 to fix it. Now even though car's fixed, i'm worried when it will break down again. but then again.. i had a fun with this car.. I would recommend to buy a new car but not a high mileage used Jetta.

I have had this car since it had 14k miles, now it has 120k. It has been a good car, the exception has been anything electrical- see all the recalls. Exterior and interior lights come and go. the car is very sluggish now that the miles are higher. I have had buicks that performed better with high miles, and i hear that all TDIs behave such with high miles. Great gas mileage and performance with lower miles.

I purchesed my 2001 Jetta GLS VR6 early this year. It's been a great car and I love the way it looks and drives. Especially with the sports package. It coming up to 80,000 miles and it had 70,000 when I bought it. Despite the high milage my car is still running hard. I sometimes feel like I'm driving a BMW. Just with out paying the price for one. I'am now a loyal Volkswagen Customer.

I purchased a used 2001 VW Jetta GLX VR6. It came with EVERY imaginable option available. Automatic rain sensing wipers, leather, wood grain, heated seats, sunroof, monsoon stereo. It's like they crammed some super expensive luxury automobile into this easy to handle car. The engine is awesome and responsive, even after 59,000 miles. It only needs an oil change every 5,000 miles. It gets great gas mileage and is extremely comfortable on road trips. It is extremely well insulated and road noise is unnoticeable, plus the monsoon stereo system is wonderful. I put on some classical music to really put it through it's paces and it's as clear as a bell even if you turn the volume way up it doesn't distort, same with bass heavy music like rap, hip hop and pop. I'm going to drive this car until the wheels fall off. I wish i would've bought it first. I have been trying to convince everyone to buy a jetta now.

2001 Jetta is a great car! If you are looking for a dependable and reliable vehicle you have found it in a Jetta. Sporty look yet economical on the gas! Smaller vehicle with huge comforts.
