My 5th Jetta Diesel
Each one better than the prior. Traded in a red Jetta Diesel manual for a red Jetta Diesel automatic. (looking forward to needing a "one-foot" vehicle. The Automatic is an automatic shift gearbox (not a slushbox) and works wonderfully. Car is quick and responsive (as have been the last couple of diesels). MPG better than the 2011 Manual that was traded in. Highly recommend that you at least try a VW diesel; you'll likely be surprised. (The other car is a 1997 Volvo that's a member of the family :) ). Found the car quite easily and nearby using Cars.com. HMMM. I just read this review, sounds like a paid endorsement, it's all real.

nothing special
this vehicle is gutless no power, very poor gas mileage, the performance is below average for the price I paid! have never gotten more than 27 mpg on a full tank in cruise control freeway driving? it does NOT get what it is rated at? you can't do better than cruise control at 60 mph on a freeway trip from Seattle to Past Portland Oregon to get the best mileage that you can get, and the car only has 1,200 total miles? Wish I had never bought it for sure and I am extreamly disappointed.

A Wonderful Car
I searched around for a car for about 6 months before finally deciding on the Jetta. I decided to purchase a 2013 Jetta 2.5 SE with convenience. I bought mine right as the 2014's were rolling out to avoid the new engine (because it had a turbo) and for a pretty decent discount. It has been a little over two months since I've purchased the car and I have put on 4700 miles as of today. One of the main reasons I purchased a Jetta was because of its standard features that rose above the competition. The interior is quite nice; however the quality is a bit disappointing. It's a gorgeous design, but everything is hard plastic. I have noticed a few rattles develop from the front passenger seat also. With the SE model I got heated seats that look and feel just like leather, but they're a leatherette. They are very comfortable and have nice side bolster. The steering wheel, covered in stitched leather, is phenomenal. It has bolsters that are easy to grip while driving. A favorite feature of mine is all of the multimedia options. I have regular radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming audio, and and MDI connector. I have an iPhone 4S which works great with the system. The voice control works better than the one in our 2007 Lexus RX350. The backseat and trunk are huge for an entry level car. More importantly, the car drives well. It's pretty quick off its feet, but passing is sometimes slow (for someone who is used to driving six-cylinder cars). I usually drive in tiptronic mode where you can "manually" shift your own gears. Sport mode is good too, but it holds the revs too high while just cruising at a constant speed. Steeling feel isn't as bad as its criticized to be; I love taking exit ramps and turns in my Jetta! It isn't the absolute best, but it's no where near the worst; I'd say much better than average. The engine does seem to make an odd growl at low RPM's, but it's probably just unique to the five cylinder. Reliability wise, I can't say anything bad other than the rattle from the passenger seat, but that's probably more of a quality issue. Overall, I think the Jetta is a fantastic car with a gorgeous design, but could use some work with materials inside the cabin and maybe a little more road feedback steering-wise. I also think that seventeen inch wheels would look much better than the standard sixteens, but those can be optioned on with the SEL model. I highly recommend this car for it is great fun to drive, has a comfortable interior, and has many more features than its competitors.

Great Car for First Car Purchase
Love that I got the TDI Jetta. The diesel gets fantastic gas mileage and has good torque (I switched from a 1997 Ford explorer with a V8 engine and 4 wheel drive). I was a little afraid of the switch to a smaller, lower driving, and less powerful vehicle, but I have been very surprised how nicely the Jetta TDI is doing with my old driving habits. I got the 17'' wheels and they prevent the bottom of the car from scraping when going over curbs that are a little inclined. The acceleration is a little slow, but once you get past 20mph it is great. The leather seating I got is also super nice and the touch start was a little different to get used to, but I am enjoying it as well as the keyless entry. Curbs well, but does seem a lot lighter when traveling faster speeds when compared to my old car. Overall, though, great purchase and I am super happy with the quality of the car as well as it performance!

This is my second Jetta TDI
The Jetta is a great drive- getting about 46mpg highway. Do not like the fact that you can not lock the door from outside the car by depressing the door lock on any of the doors -passengers or drivers door. therefore can only lock the doors from the outside by using a key or the keyfob. Very inconvenient. All else if fine

Jetta
Handles quite well, but steering colum has a notch on the bottom that constantly is in the way , and I end up hitting my right knee . To avoid the problem I have to readjust my seat everyday. Other than that, nice ride good milage, overall satisfied. Solid car.

tdi rules
Fuel economy is excellent. I commute on busy city streets 20 minutes each way. I fill up once a month! Turbo diesel delivers power when needed. Sport mode is awesome! Take your foot off the gas and car slows down real fast so you don't waste gas by hitting brakes. Trunk is big. Back seat is good if you don't have child seats. Too early to report overall reliability. Expensive car but you save on fuel. Hard to find diesel.
