I love the new volvo S60. They aren't your old run of the mill volvo's anymore. I was told my car looks like a spaceship, while I don't think this is true the styling is edgy and pushes the conservative volvo boundaries. The performance of the vehicle is unbelievable. My previous cars are an S40 and an Impreza Sport. This car puts them to shame. The turbo is smooth but very quick (especially in sport mode). Not to mention it only takes 87 oct. gasoline. The seats are amazingly comfortable and the interior is quiet. All materials look and have a premium feel to them. My only beef with the car is the infotainment. There are lots of buttons and knobs, which aren't necessarily laid out intuitively. In my opinion it just seems sightly complicated, again, I have to stop and think sometimes when I want to carry out a stereo operation. Otherwise, the stereo is powerful and I liked the six months free sirius radio. The value compared to other brands is exceptional. If you were to get the car with just the premium package, the car comes with way more options than its competitors at a much much cheaper price tag. Throw in the scheduled maintenance and your looking at a great bargain. I leased my car. I basically have every option minus the navigation and I am still paying about 80$ less than an entry level BMW 3 series. Specifically for this car I cannot speak of the reliability because I've only had it for a month. I've owned a volvo in the past and never had anything wrong with it, and if I ever did it was replaced free of charge and I was given a loaner the entire time I was out of a car. I am very happy with my purchase. I would highly recommend the vehicle to anyone who is in the market for an entry sized luxury sedan. It's a great bargain and is a quality and AMAZINGLY SAFE vehicle(if you haven't seen the new IIHS small overlap test, google it, you'll be extremely surprised by the results).

My wife and I review several low-luxury cars for around 40k or less. Audi, Lexus, Benz, Lincoln. It turned out that either they were not worth the asking price or the basic features couldnt compare to the volvo s60. My wife loves the volvo and feels completely safe with no worries.

Very nice well appointed ride. Opted for the T5. Engine has plenty of power and gives you a nice kick in the pants in sport mode. Handling is fine for entry level luxo sport sedan. Engine and transmission are quick. Seats are the best with great lumbar and thigh support. Interior is very high quality - a bit better than run of the mill Benz and way better than BMW - in line with Audi. Fit and finish rivals lexus. Styling is refreshing and everything seems to make ergonomic and functional sense. Nice infotainment system - sound is high end - Navi is easy to use. Blue tooth is apple flawless. Nice to have a car with zero initial quality issues - which is the norm with germans. Gas mileage is decent - 32 on HWY with little traffic - about 28 mixed on REGULAR. Premium does a little better and unleashes a bit more fun out engine. The car is a smart value for the money.

Volvo (finally) won me over

Wow, what a fabulous car! BMW 3 series used to be my favorite sports sedan...until I tried the 2012 S60. I've driven all the European and Asian luxury sports sedans (and most of the American ones too). Motor Trend was right when the ranked it higher than every other sedan, except the BMW 3 series. The BMW is a little sportier to drive, but the Volvo wins easily as best overall value and best features. Amazing comfort, the quietest interior on the highway, sporty handling, fast acceleration, incredible safety features that all you to feel more relaxed while driving and great fuel economy (I average 32 mpg with mostly highway driving). Get the tech package (safety features) and stereo upgrade. They're overpriced, but I love them and would buy them again.

2012 S60 T5, white exterior with tan interior, purchased used at 96,000 miles. Drives like new. When looking for used cars, one does need to drive each car. I found many S60's with much lower mileage but in much poorer condition. The car drives great. I average 32mpg with relatively cautious driving. It would be higher if not for the occasional burst of spirited driving on back roads. My previous cars have included BMW 325i, BMW 325iT, Chevrolet Cruze. The S60 does not have the same steering feel as these cars, but once you get used to it, it is a great drive. The seats are supremely comfortable (sorry Cruze), the engine has a tangible feeling of having power, the car stays planted on the road, it does not isolate you but involves you, is a very CALM place to be, and the car grows on you. A couple of cautions: one would be that trim pieces may come loose. I have loose trim on the outside of the front windshield and the door, and both can be easily and inexpensively replaced. Another caution would be the dealership. Please purchase from a dealer who takes care of cars - all dealers are not equal. Mine was from Laurel BMW in Westmont, IL., and I highly recommend them. Don't restrict yoursekf to Volvo dealers. Getting the right dealership will make a difference. So, in summary, great car (drive them all and be choosy), and good dealer (visit them all and be choosy).

I bought the 2012 S 60 in June of 2012 after thinking between others and Volvo. I had Q 5 which is a great car but need second car for daily commute.Made the right decision. Bought that from NJ dealer. Sales person is fantastic. No pressures. Bought it and so far no regrets. Safety, reliability and service. All are great. Its not 3 series but its 3 G less and almost perform well. Need no premium gas. Which is a plus. Will just recommend to go test drive before thinking of getting any car. I will get aother S 60 if I have to!!

Purchased Volvo S60 T5 in 2011 (2012 MY). Great car. I test drove about 20 competing sedans before deciding. The Volvo was definitely the quietest ride. The interior is good and comfortable...and the warranty and service (5/50K all included) can't be beat. The only serious competitors in this class were Lexus and Jaguar XF at nearly $20K more.

Amazing vehicle, amazing price!

by from Miami on October 2, 2012

I have been looking for a nice car that was below the 50K and that is when I considered test driving a S60 R-Design. I knew right away that this was a lot of machine for the price.
