I Used cars.com to compare dealers within 100 mile radius from me. I did my comparison and research and decided to check out a 2012 Ford Explorer at Millenium. i bought my 2017 cruze hatchback used with 47000 km on it and owned it for 6 months and its been back to the dealer of atleast 12 times for the same issue . when u punch the gas the engine would spark knock like crazy and check engine light would come on . after a new ecm , turbo , knock sensor , engine wire harness and after the dealer exhausted everything they order a engine rebuild kit new pistons and gaskets and when they pulled the head , they found cylinder 2 and 4 had major scoring in the cylinder walls , but the good out come is that they ordered a complete new long block engine and replaced it . 4200 kms on new engine and no new issues yet . i cant be certain whats in store when i rack up more kms on it and if its gonna be a reliable vehicle now and get me through a couple years on no issues . wish i woulda bought a toyota

My old car was my third minivan in 15 years. Now that my kids are older and leaving for college, I wanted something that could carry 6 or 7 passengers but was ... well... NOT a minivan. I did some research on late model used three-row SUVs, and found the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. (My favorite of my three vans was a 2005 Nissan Quest, so choosing Nissan was easy for me.) Before I started browsing for cars, I applied for credit through Carvana, and was approved. Next, I entered in all of the information about the van I was trading for the Pathfinder. (Beware -- the trade-in amount is only good for 7 days, and it can change wildly in that time!) I was pleased with the trade amount, and it was great that I could shop for my new car and see my down payment and monthly payment for every car I viewed! My specifications were pretty clear -- AWD, less than 10,000 miles, and never a rental car. I found my dream car a few days later, and started the purchase process. It was quite smooth and the directions were very clear about what documents need to be uploaded. When I went to click on "finalize purchase" (or something like that), a red flag popped up...my trade-in value expired WHILE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING OUT! I got on chat with Carvana staff right away, and they were able to return the trade in value to NEARLY what it was before the expiration. This is something that needs to be addressed by Carvana -- once a customer is to a certain point in the process, those numbers need to be frozen. So we set a delivery time, and the Carvana rep was pretty much on time considering he was traveling 70 miles or so from the Chicago office. Everything was smooth -- signed a couple more papers, took my Pathfinder for a spin, Eric inspected my trade, and I left within 30 minutes with my new car. I would also like to add that I drove directly to my mechanic, so he could inspect the car and make sure I wasn't buying something with hidden damage. Talk about a great vehicle! I put 28k miles on my 2018 Cruze Diesel 6 speed in less than a year and it never had one single hiccup! I average 52mpg throughout those 28k miles! And every time I filled up, I calculated my own mileage and averaged 2 to 3mpg more than what the dashboard read! Excellent vehicle, Chevy really stepped up! That immediate torque mated with the 6 speed made for one fun ride!

Cruze #3...They Keep Getting Better

We've owned a 2014, a 2015 and now a 2018. All were/are the Turbo Diesel models and we still have the 2014.
We picked up the 2018 Cruze LT (sedan) diesel a few weeks ago in Seattle. It was brand new with 37 miles on it. The MSRP was $26, 295 but after dealer discounts, rebates and incentives we paid $18,761. That is a steal for this car!
The LT has cloth heated seats, power everything, keyless entry and remote start, power driver seat, USB ports, 7" MyLink audio system, and lots of other nice little touches. 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty along with the standard 3 year/36,000 bumper to bumper warranty. 2 maintenance visits are included as well (oil/filter change, top DEF, rotate tires).
The interior is quite comfy. The 8-way power adjustable driver seats should provide a position to satisfy just about anyone and there is plenty of head and shoulder room. Average adults can easily fit into the back seat without being cramped.
The 1.6L Turbo Diesel makes decent power. It's not as powerful as the older 2.0L TD, but it's adequate. The 2018 is equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The engine sounds like a diesel at startup but it's hard to tell it's a diesel once you're up to speed. Overall it's very quiet and the ride is smooth and pleasant. The DEF filler port has been moved from inside the trunk to a spot right next to the gas cap, a much more convenient location.
It has an "Auto Stop/Start" feature that shuts down the engine during stop and go driving. This is disabled when the outside temp is below 32 degrees (I think that's the cutoff temp) so I haven't experienced that yet. Many people don't like it. You can override it by shifting it to "L" and then manually shifting the transmission to the highest gear.
The best thing about the diesel is the fuel efficiency. On a recent trip to a nearby town (about 75 miles round trip) our 2018 Cruze averaged 54.2 MPG. It's done 60.8 during one stretch of driving over a 25 mile rolling average. And those are both at highway speeds of 55 to 65 MPH in the hills of northern Idaho.
It has more tech features built into the MyLink system than I really care to use. But, they might be handy for some. I mostly use the Bluetooth but don't bother with much else like Android (or Apple) Auto. It's there if you want it along with OnStar and satellite radio.
It's really a shame that this is the last year for the Cruze, especially the diesel model. They really are fantastic cars, even though Americans don't seem to care for diesel engines in anything but trucks. I love 'em. 3 of our 4 vehicles are powered by diesel engines and I'll likely never own a gasoline powered car again.
If you're looking for a great deal on a very reliable and capable car I'd highly recommend checking out the Cruze before it's gone.
