Positives and negatives for my experience

I have been searching for a specific vehicle for months. Due to my work schedule, I have missed out on 6 opportunities for this car.
I spoke with James at this dealership, explained my experiences thus far, and he agreed that given the distance I must travel, and that I have my own financing, a no-haggle out the door price quote. The cars nada clean retail value was $9900. The asking price was $10,500.
James got me an otd number of $10,400. He informed me that they spent $800 in service on strut mounts, tires, a fog light, turned rotors, and an alignment. This resulted in them being deep in the car and unable to hit my target of $10,000 otd. But the price was acceptable to me, despite one little hitch. The price I'd be paying is above clean retail value, and for that I expect the car to be "clean". The front bumper had plastic and paint damage across the width of it.
James got a quote from their paint shop of $1100 to repair the bumper. I was willing to split the difference to have it repaired.
I did not receive an answer back, but days later received a picture from James showing that the bumper had been repaired, but somehow the otd price had changed from $10,400 to $11,700, putting it beyond the amount my credit union would lend on the vehicle.
Overall James was good at responding quickly, delivering detailed photos and information. I appreciate his efforts.
Unfortunately the car sold before we could renegotiate the numbers.
The dealership on the other hand I'm undecided about. I work for a motorcycle dealership and know that most dealers don't pay more than average trade value, so either this dealership is very generous with their trade allowances, or they refuse to accept below a certain threshold of profit.
Things didn't add up for me, but that may be a unique situation.
Regardless, if you choose to do business with this dealership, ask for James. He was very pleasant to speak with, understanding of my situation and needs, and was very responsive.
