Traded the F150 5.0 for the F250 6.7
March 4, 2019
We needed a more powerful and rugged truck for towing and hauling. I didn't need it for work but I use it when for things around the house. We tow and haul but the F150 struggled with the big stuff even with our vintage camper. I had to plan my stops.
I didn't need the power of the diesel all the time, but I have needed it in the past and don't regret it now.
Keep up with oil and fuel filter changes. I had a DPF guage enabled by the dealer so I could manage the regen cycles too. The DEF is not expensive and lasts 5 to 7k miles so it's not a big deal. It does the job but there's a little more to be aware of. Maintaining a diesel is easy if you keep up with it, but that's everything.
The pay off is a great running vehicle that will last me years and tow anything I put behind it. As far as creature comforts, the crew cab fits the whole family and it is our road trip vehicle now, averaging about 17mpg.
