Jeep Lover Gone Honda

My experience at Russell & Smith Honda was ultimately what lead to my purchase of my 2017 Honda Civic LX E. To start $27,000 is a lot of money to spend and something I do not take lightly. Coming in to the dealership, I had anticipated to solely gain some knowledge about their cars and packages and that was all. Upon my arrival i was greeted by Matt Gul, a very kind and patient man. He immediately made me feel welcomed and VALUED by asking what i wanted rather than trying to push something down my throat. This is what first impressed me. He took the time to analyze the fact that i previously drove a Jeep Wrangler, he asked if i enjoyed the height of the car, my likes and dislikes. He went as far to ask if i had a budget and respected what i anticipated spending and showed me cars that honored what i was looking for. During the test driving experience, Matt allowed me to drive as long and as far as i liked. He pointed out features and technologies and went above and beyond what i was looking for while maintaining by budget. Mind you, I came into this dealership with no intention to buy, someone fully in love with my 4x4, someone who was weighting the option of trading in my first car (and arguably my first love) for a car that would "make sense." With this in mind, and stated to Matt, and also as a woman in my early twenties, many other salesmen had written me off as someone who wasn't going to purchase. Matt spent hours with me answering every question. Not once did i feel rushed. Not once did i feel pressured. When i finally found the car with the level of luxury i had lacked in my Wrangler but the same safe and sporty feel, Matt helped me pin point what i wanted aesthetically. And when it came time to finance, the finance department truly listened to my concerns and helped me not push past an APR i was uncomfortable with. They answered my questions regarding payments, insurances and warranties. Their level of transparency and integrity is why i purchased this car. Their attention to detail is why they will have a customer for life. Throughout this process, to an extent i was mourning the loss of my baby. My beautiful black Jeep. Matt understood my attachment to this car and at the time of the purchase, he placed both cars side by side so i could transfer my life essentially in one car to the other. After switching all of my belongings, he smiled and said, "Krista i have one last surprise for you." When i came to the back of my new Honda, i saw that he had taken the sparkled- rhinestone license plate holder my mom had originally put on my Jeep back in 2012 when i was just in high school and placed it on the Honda. "So you can keep a little piece with you," he said. I was instantly moved because this purchase wasn't just a trade in, it wasn't just a transaction. Matt understood that. Matt understood that this purchase was symbolic to me. It is this level of care that allowed me to let go of my beloved Jeep and move forward with a vehicle that will take care of me for the next 5+ years. Matt, THANK YOU! Dino, THANK YOU!
