My Favorite Car I've Ever Owned
January 26, 2019
Ten years ago, thanks to Cash for Clunkers, I got my Accent hatch. Yes, I traded in an '89 Bronco for one of the smallest cars--but what I lost in room, I gained in the tank. It's comfortable, quick, and has better gas milage than my wife's Prius. At nearly 90,000 miles, it still seems new to me. Yes, the fabric on the seat is wearing, but that is about the only thing. I have towed a small boat with it for years with no issues with transmission. At the parking lot at my job, over the past decade, cars have changed--yet the two that have been constant are '09 Accents: mine and another guy's. My kid will be driving soon, and I'm hoping she doesn't want my car. Selfish? You bet. Besides the Bronco, I've had a Buick Riviera and Century, a Sunbird, Honda CRX si, and even a Hyundai Excel, but my favorite car of all time is the one I drive now: the 2009 Accent. And not for nothing, I think it has a unique look--front: not too assuming, sides: hot hatchback, back: sort of a nostalgic Euro look (at least I think so). And last thing, I love window cranks! If you ever had a power window fail, you'd understand. The '09 Accent, simply said, is perhaps the most sensible car on the road.
