Does the end justify the means? Definitely not! That said, my ultimate experience with Rafferty was both enormously gratifying and also, for better or worse, just as upsetting at the beginning. The first half of that remark is for the dealership; the latter for my fellow consumers. However, both parties could benefit tremendously by considering the last-minute, Hail Mary, work-a-round I accidentally ended up applying Without naming names I'll just say that sales reps - within every industry, and just like us - have both good and bad days. The corresponding features of each can have a profound effect on one's level of focus, will, energy, helpfulness, determination, interest, caring, etc, etc, etc. If you were a rep wanting to win an award for salesperson of the year you'd better be on the positive side of those traits. If you are a consumer, however, and purely by chance happen to find yourself dealing with a "bad day" rep, don't blame the dealership. Rather, hang up, call back and specifically request a different person. That's what I did - but ONLY after five days of steaming over what happened during my first attempt. On the fifth day I was actually in the process of wiring money to a different dealer for a car I decided I could probably live with when suddenly the internet went down. Everything stopped. I thought for a moment, picked up the phone and followed the above advice. The outcome? I was paired with a rep with whom I was able to connect genuinely, and ended up getting the car of my dreams. The moral: Neither steam nor groan, Unless flawless you've been shown. Realize that dealerships keep multiple reps on hand for the express purpose of compensating for the daily allotment of "bad day" reps who, for the sake of all, would have done far better to call in sick.

Engine and mileage troubles

It's a pretty little car. I got the white. It does have excellent outboard visibility which was important to me . The seats are comfortable and I wanted it for the safety ranking, the AWD and the visibility all of which are as promised. It is the smallest car I've had in 40 years but has room for what I need at my age. However it did not get better than 19 mpg city and highway and they had to put a new engine in it. Now it is averaging 24 and can get 32 on the hwy in favorable conditions. I like the heated sets on the lowest setting and am happy to have the back up camera although it is nearly useless after dark-very blurry. I think it accelerates fast enough. I am not happy to not have retained auxiliary power which I thought was standard on something at this price : $26,0000. It is a huge nuisance to have to turn the car back on to close the sunroof or roll a window up or down, The sound system is horribly overcomplicated. Too many unneeded warning indicators which are pretty tiny and take research to figure out.I like the driver info center. I'm getting older and would prefer a car with fewer rather than more features. I had to search hard to find one with a compass , which I still find useful and essential but it is placed-way up in a corner of the rearview mirror. Should be on the dash somewhere to be really useful. The salesforce and the mechanics are very responsive and the car is generally well made. They fixed the engine without complaint. So they get points for that. I just think it is complicated in ways that are not helpful.

I finally had an easy hassle free car buying experience. I have owned a few Subaru's and had about 4 months left on my lease. I thought it was time to begin checking out new cars. I have never dealt with Rafferty in the past but they had the most inventory in my area so I thought I would check it out. I started emails with Jessica, the internet rep. We already discussed pricing for the make and model I was interested in before I walked into the dealership. I walked into the dealership at 9:30am and drove off the lot in a new vehicle by noon. My sales rep Steve Heck was friendly personable and knowledgeable about the vehicle. There wasn't the usual phony haggling that I have encountered at other dealerships. I had already researched the fair market price for this vehicle with options and Steve came back with a figure that was right in the sweet spot. The Finance portion with Jim McDonald was fast and efficient. I have previously sat for over an hour going through paperwork. I was done in 10 minutes. Jim answered my questions when I had them and we moved through the mountains of paperwork effortlessly. The car got detailed and Keith walked me through all the electronics and operations. It was a pleasure dealing with Steve and the rest of the staff at Rafferty. Don't let the construction going on keep you from visiting the dealership. Yes its a bit of chaos but out of the 6 new cars I have purchased over my lifetime, this is the first experience that wasn't a painful drawn out ordeal that took all day. Oh and so far, I love the car

Reliable but Brash

The Subaru Legacy is an excellent vehicle. Subaru has nailed the practicality formula with this vehicle. It is large inside, gets excellent fuel economy, has strong mechanical components (engine, trans, AWD system), and is a perfect family vehicle, though the engine is lacking in power. However, and this is a big, however, the Subarus are NOT built for your comfort. The seats are comfortable enough, as is the ride comfort, but the lack of refinement is alarming. The vehicle is loud, brash, and has little concern for luxury. The interior trim is cheap plastic and rough to the touch. There is very little sound deadening, a decibel meter read 79 decibels at only 50 mph, unacceptable in modern vehicles. Reliability is something great to be concerned about, and Subaru offers an excellent package for reliability and practicality, however, the lack of concern for refinement and quality engineering, especially in todays market, is bad enough to make me sell the car. In a modern market, reliability is something that can be found in most vehicles, but modern interiors have improved far past where Subaru is currently. Want reliability, get a Toyota. Need AWD, get a Toyota RAV4. Your comfortable bottom will thank you for it.

I was looking to sell my Canadian vehicle and went to CarSense Chester Springs for a quote on a Saturday. They gave me a quote and I mulled it over for a couple of days then returned on a Tuesday morning to sell. The process was almost complete when they realized that they would not be able to resell my vehicle wholesale to an auctioneer (because it's Canadian and still reads in km) which meant the vehicle was basically useless to them. I could tell the buyer and other sales associates felt bad, but they also felt that their hands were tied and they couldn't purchase the vehicle from me at a loss. What happened next was truly unexpected. After checking all of their options and determining that yes, it was true that they couldn't sell my car at anything near the value they would pay for it THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HONOR THEIR INITIAL QUOTE ANYWAY. And they did. My situation is pretty specific (Canadian vehicle, unfortunate oversight made when pricing out my vehicle, etc.) but overall it demonstrates that this is a dealership with integrity and heart. "Auto dealer" and "classy" aren't terms typically uttered in the same sentence, but I can definitely say that CarSense is a dealership with class. I have already relayed my experienced to several people and I will continue to do so. I would highly recommend CarSense Chester Springs.

I had not purchased from Rafferty in the past, but had been bringing both my Subarus to them for service for several years, and their Service Department is excellent. I was dropping off my WRX and thought I'd see if they had a new model in stock "just to check out". I was introduced to Ben Weyant and after an honestly enjoyable hour or so I was leaving in a 2018 WRX in the exact color and with the specific package I wanted! It really was that easy. And "enjoyable" is not hyperbole! Ben is one of the nicest people I've met in a in long time, he made the whole experience truly pain-free! I highly recommend Ben (and all the staff) at Rafferty Subaru!

I really enjoy almost everything about the car. It drives well, good features, good mileage for AWD. I wish the body was not so low to the ground ( easy to scrape on curbs etc ) but I want a sedan and it seems all sedans now are low like this one nowadays.

Ben clearly knows his product and absolutely goes beyond what I would expect in a car sales experience. We truly needed to go "old school" and visit the dealer to see how we would fit in a different vehicle model as we've been driving all-Ford for 15 years now. His ability to compare the Subaru line (Crosstreck & Forester vs Ford Edge) was remarkable. He understood our needs and catered to them, understanding that we were not ready to make the move...just a few months left on our current Ford Lease. A 20 minute conversation and a walk around the lot together allowed us to hear about our options so we were more prepared to make a final decision. Talk about a sleek car with available iSight camera system that helps ensure the safety of everyone in the vehicle. Comes with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. Automatic braking to avoid front end collion. Reverse camera with automatic braking and sensors to alert you of oncoming objects usually not in your immediate view when reversing. The day time running lamps are the sharpest looking thing on the road, I prefer them over my BMW LED day time running lamps. In terms of comfort you have all premium leather heated seats with a wood grain front panel that gives off a modern style. Steering wheel paddle shifters with AWD give you superb control. Keyless entry and push to start engine means you can quickly get in and go! Has the new shark fin antenna that flows with the vehicle. Automatic on/off headlamps and awesome fog lamps that individually turn on when making a turn to increase your visibility of the immediate low ground road which allows you to dodge every pothole.

This was the second Subaru dealership my wife and I visited. It was our first time car-shopping at Rafferty Subaru, since they???re not the closest dealership to us. I???m glad we made the trip. We had done some initial Q&A via internet sales and then drove to Rafferty late on a Saturday morning. When we arrived, our salesperson was immediately available. We???ve gone to other dealerships in the past with an appointment only to find our sales consultant had taken another walk-in customer and made us wait. Not so at Rafferty. Our sales consultant Jeanette met us at the door and attended to us every step of the way. I was impressed with her obvious knowledge of the vehicle...a 2018 Crosstrek Limited. Not only did she review all of the features and amenities, she also reviewed the changes and improvements from the prior year???s model, as well as offering comparisons to other models. As we waited for our trade-in to be appraised, we were offered refreshments and even lunch. Very helpful with a bored 14-year old in tow. This was a low-pressure, comfortable sales experience. We had a price goal, with a trade-in, and the negotiation was informed and reasonable. In the end, we left the dealership with a new Subaru Crosstrek...after leaving details of our other car, and the intention to return and hopefully trade It in for a new Outback. We are definitely looking forward to working with Jeanette again in the near future!

I love the look, performance, features, comfort and reliability. I have owned VW's, Ford Pinto, Audi Fox, Honda Accord, Toyota Tercel, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Impala and a 1942 Pontiac that was a gift from an old neighbor who went into a Nursing Home in 1964. I had the most fun in the '42 but my Legacy is by far the nicest car I have ever owned.

Jeanette (Jen) Prestia was knowledgeable and communitive. I had questions, and she answered them verbally or through texting which was very helpful. I visited the dealership on Thursday 12/28th and she got straight to business. I test drove the Forester. Before leaving, Ms. Prestia asked if I wanted to discuss a purchase. Good question since I wanted to make a decision by end of year. I was willing to discuss a deal because I thought I could work with her. More important, I didn't feel pressured to buy. She texted me Friday morning about reserving time for me. Again I didn't feel pressure. I purchased the Forester that day 12/29th. (I also spoke with Steve Mills who listened to my concerns. Thank you both. This experience was the easiest I had at a dealership. I am waiting for my second set of keys. It is causing some worry for me. I'm sure Ms. Prestia will get matter corrected.)

Amazing sedan for the snow! Drives well. Great features. Really the only thing that’s missing for me is the automatic lock once the car is in drive and moving. You have to remember to lock the doors. Otherwise, I love it!

My old car was my third minivan in 15 years. Now that my kids are older and leaving for college, I wanted something that could carry 6 or 7 passengers but was ... well... NOT a minivan. I did some research on late model used three-row SUVs, and found the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. (My favorite of my three vans was a 2005 Nissan Quest, so choosing Nissan was easy for me.) Before I started browsing for cars, I applied for credit through Carvana, and was approved. Next, I entered in all of the information about the van I was trading for the Pathfinder. (Beware -- the trade-in amount is only good for 7 days, and it can change wildly in that time!) I was pleased with the trade amount, and it was great that I could shop for my new car and see my down payment and monthly payment for every car I viewed! My specifications were pretty clear -- AWD, less than 10,000 miles, and never a rental car. I found my dream car a few days later, and started the purchase process. It was quite smooth and the directions were very clear about what documents need to be uploaded. When I went to click on "finalize purchase" (or something like that), a red flag popped up...my trade-in value expired WHILE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING OUT! I got on chat with Carvana staff right away, and they were able to return the trade in value to NEARLY what it was before the expiration. This is something that needs to be addressed by Carvana -- once a customer is to a certain point in the process, those numbers need to be frozen. So we set a delivery time, and the Carvana rep was pretty much on time considering he was traveling 70 miles or so from the Chicago office. Everything was smooth -- signed a couple more papers, took my Pathfinder for a spin, Eric inspected my trade, and I left within 30 minutes with my new car. I would also like to add that I drove directly to my mechanic, so he could inspect the car and make sure I wasn't buying something with hidden damage. Mechanic said to me, "This car is perfect, like new." Just what I wanted to hear. Thanks Carvana! I am telling everyone I know about you guys. Good to work with you! Janet - 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

This is a review of my SELLING experience to Carvana. I listed my car on Craigslist and was approached by an outsider buyer named Jan. She introduced me to Carvana, which I never heard of before, and it's process. She was very helpful and walked me through the process. The first deciding factor for selling to them was that they offered me the best price (vs. CarMax, Auto Nation, Trur Car). Then I realized the process was super streamlined. All I had to do was upload my documents and, after approval, schedule an appointment for the pickup of my car. Carvana sent a truck to COME TO ME to pick up the car. The driver (Lauren?) was very courteous and pleasant to work with, too. The pickup process, which included a one-mile test drive, took no longer than 20-30 minutes. Immediately after loading my car to their truck, I was handed the check, which I immediately deposited without any issues. My selling experience from being contacted by buyer to getting the check took just 10 days! (Would've been even faster if I was more timely with uploading my docs.) I'd highly recommend Carvana for selling your cars!

Buying through Carvana was one of the best transactional experiences ever! I shopped for several months, test drove several cars to understand the models and features I was looking for. Then, boom, the car that matched come up in my search and I pulled the trigger. Within minutes, I had a value on my trade-in, purchased the car, (to include a very well priced extended warranty), and arranged for financing it through the Carvana website. And, while that was a very easy, non pressure experience, what made it really special was the delivery. Rachel, the Caravan rep, called me the day before the delivery to confirm, then called while in route to be sure not to leave me hanging. She was right on time, professional, and extremely upbeat. I had a genuine feeling that her priority was not only to deliver the car and pick up my trade in, but it was to make the final part of my experience a pleasure as well. Rachel was extremely knowledgeable of the process and did an excellent job of assuring I was informed of the "7 day, no questions asked, test drive" as well as the final paperwork to be processed. A few signatures and the trade-in was her's and the keys to 2014 BMW 535 were in my hands.

I owned the Legacy 3.6r limited edition. I bought it new when the next year was coming out. If you can find one that way you have found a unicorn! They hold their value! Excellent car, I wish I still had it.

I flew from Texas to Pennsylvania because Rafferty had the used Forester that I was looking for. I drove it and bought it. My salesman, Owen Cunningham, was a pro; helpful and up front while not pushy. No runaround and no games. I got a very fair price on the car, and then the dealership really went above and beyond to make good on what they promised. Before I picked up the car a week later, they had done a lot of work on it. Not just cleaning and cosmetics-which they did well- but expensive engine work and maintenance that I didn't expect or ask for. They got the car running even better than before, and it was a pleasure to drive the 1800 miles back home. Zero problems. I am very satisfied with my whole experience with Rafferty. As I told Owen, you guys did what you said and more. For that I am grateful and would thoroughly recommend them. They were definitely worth the drive.

My husband and I visited Rafferty Subaru looking to purchase a new 2018 Outback. We were on the fence about some features, but Jen was fantastic in talking us through everything! Recently bought a Crosstrek at Rafferty Subaru. Very happy with the experience. Brad was so helpful in getting me the features I wanted at a fair price and Jim made sure all the paperwork went smoothly. I went from realizing it was time to retire my 15-year old Forester, with over 150K miles, on Monday to driving my new Crosstrek home on Saturday. I LOVE my new Crosstrek! When it's time to replace our other car, we'll definitely go to Rafferty Subaru first.

Comfy interior, bought sport trim with nav, sunroof. Only drove 10 miles so far. Lots of tech. Exterior looks nice. High rating in CR annual. Road noise good, less than my last 3 Acura RDX's.
