Great Gas Mileage, Reliable, Not Very Comfortable
May 2, 2019
Averaging over 36 MPG in mixed driving. The "S" version handles well, and rides fairly well for the car's size, but that isn't saying much - you still feel pavement strips, bumps, etc. It's certainly no Camry or Avalon!
The car is attractive, and as reasonably priced as other cars its size. There is enough power for anyone who drives sanely. If it doesn't have enough power for you, you probably drive too aggressively to start with. The CVT is not a problem. Driven sanely, you'll never notice it.
Reliability is excellent for all years of the Corolla. That, and the excellent fuel economy are the car's best selling points.
On the downside... If you are considering a Corolla, take a long test drive. Compared to a Camry or Avalon, the car is simply not very comfortable, especially if you are older.
