(upbeat music) <v Announcer>Cars.com Auto Review. Hi, this is Joe Bruzek from cars.com. We're here with the Volkswagen GTI, which for 2010 is all new on the inside and out.
The new styling is simple and clean, but it's still aggressive enough to distinguish itself from the regular Golf. The GTI has a unique sports suspension. An added benefit is you actually have more room in the back than the regular Golf. The rear seats are easy to fold and they give you a flat loading floor with no gaps in between. They're not as easy to get back up though, 'cause they're heavy. The version we're driving here is the standard six speed manual transmission. You may want to opt for the dual clutch automatic transmission. There isn't too much of a loss of performance and your city mileage actually goes up by three miles per gallon. Even though the numbers may suggest that the GTI is at a strong disadvantage to its competitors, it still feels really potent. The 2.0 liter turbo charged engine makes a lot of power all over the RPM range. So you're not just limited to a bunch of power way up high in the RPM. You have usable horsepower and torque anywhere you want it. The new interior has a higher quality field than the previous GTI. I really like this steering wheel. It's got a leather wrapped red stitching and has a really solid feel. Our GTI is equipped as $27,000, but you can get one starting at $23,500. <v Announcer>For more car related news, go to cars.com or our blog kickingtires.net.
