Cars.com Auto Reviews. Hi, I'm Joe Wiesenfelder. This is cars.com is first look at the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet. Cabriolet means it's a convertible, a soft top convertible.
Now this is not a retractable hard top like a lot of cars are now, but it comes with advantages. It's lighter in weight. This is actually almost an inch thick, so it is pretty thick. Good for cold weather. And you also get a nice line. It's not that different from the E-Class Coupe, which replaces the CLK Coupe that was sold last year. Now the top goes up in about 20 seconds or down for that matter, you can do it up to 25 miles per hour, which is great because if you're driving and it starts raining, you don't have to pull over. Soft top also leaves you a lot of trunk space. Even when the top is down. Now, the interior is a lot like the E-Class Coupe, in terms of the dimensions, front and back. A little snug in the back, but headroom is similar. The quality too, very similar to the Coupe, which is good, but I have to say the E-Class sedan, I think is a classier interior. Now a couple of interesting features, an option that's been around is Airscarf, what it does is, it blows some warm air at your neck, but this, new for this year is a, a directional adjustment, which is kind of nice, tall, short. And then there's something called AirCap, which is intended to change the way air flows over the car, so you're not buffeted as much. You hit one button in the center and this spoiler comes up right at the top of the windshield. Helps blow the air up over everyone. And while that's going up, a screen pops up along with the rear head restraints, and this basically keeps people in the back seat from getting blasted with air. Not a bad addition. Now it comes in V6 E350 form, and also this, the V8 powered E550, looks pretty good to us. How long until summer? (upbeat music) For more car related news, go to cars.com or our blog KickingTires.net.
