Cars.com's Dave Thomas takes a look at the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302.

<v man>Cars.com Auto Review. Hi, I'm Dave Thomas of cars.com and this is a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302. Now it's not just track inspired. It's actually built for the track and it may just be the best Mustang ever built.
The Mustang signature look at some tweaks with the 302, namely this big stripe down the middle, black roof and a small spoiler on the back which in this case is also black. You also got a unique grill to 302. I'm not really a big fan of it. It has these fake cutouts. I don't really like them. There are a lot of performance gains with the 302 obviously and we'll get into those. But it's really surprising that how comfortable the car is. Thanks to a manually adjustable suspension. Another feature that adds to the comfort are these Recaro seats. And they're actually optional. It's one of the options on the 302. $2,000 option package but you're spending 40 grand, go with these Recaro seats. They're really comfortable. They're wider than a lot of other cars I've tested out. Even my wife who is pretty picky about getting into sports cars with me, loved it. Get behind the wheel with special Mustang and you can tell it's much more than just some simple tweaks here and there. The 5 liter V8 engine from the standard GT gets bumped up to 444 horsepower in the Boss. But it's getting all that power to the road where it excels. The clutch has been upgraded too. So the 6 speed manual transmission works flawlessly as you wrap it through the gears and the power builds. The rear wheels can come loose pretty easily if you're hammering down the accelerator. However, it's just as easy to get the car back under control. It's this harmonious nature, this instinctual control of the Boss that makes it so much fun to drive. That and the exhaustive.
