(rock music) <v Announcer>Cars.com auto review. Hi, I'm Kelsey Mays for cars.com. We're at the New York auto show, checking out Mercedes 2012 C-class Coupe. This is a version of the refreshed C-class, which also comes out for 2012.
We'll check out what makes the coupe different from the sedan. Like the revisions to the C-class sedan, the coupe's got kind of this reshaped lower bumper opening here. And you'll notice that the headlights have a little bit more of a scalloped look to them. There's less of an eyebrow that you saw in the 2011 C-class. As you move back, the wheel base and length of the coupe remain about the same as the sedan, but the coupe's actually about an inch and a half lower. There's a lot of sheet metal as you come back here. Actually in press photos, it looked like the rear was kind of bulbous and overextended. I gotta say in person, it does look a little bit big back here, but it's not near as bad. The coupe has the same sort of restyled interior as the sedan, which adopts shapes that are closer to those of the E-Class Mercedes larger sedan than the last C-class. There's kind of some consolidated buttons around here, a few more metallic textures. Overall I think the materials are a step up from what was in the old C-class. The coupe has a unique flat bottom steering wheel. It also gets these seats with integrated head restraints that kind of come seamlessly into the seats back here. Let's take a look at the back seat. Put the front seat forward to get back and it automatically motors forward, which is nice. It opens up a little space here. You don't have to press any buttons, kind of does that on its own. And the seat belts here on these runners. So they stay out of the way when you need to get in the back. But they're pretty easy to reach when you're sitting up front. Hop in, seat automatically comes back to wherever it was in the first place. Mercedes doesn't have full specs yet on leg room and head room in back versus up front. But I think it's definitely tighter than in the sedan I just sat in and headroom suffers a bit too. Not a bad spot if you're willing to slouch down a little bit, but probably wanna ask for your driver to move a little bit forward so you can get more comfortable. When the car goes on sale, it'll come in C250 and C350 trims. The 250 will have a turbocharged four cylinder and the 350 will have Mercedes 3.5 liter V6. There will also be a C63 AMG with up to 481 horsepower and zero to 60 times of just 4.4 seconds, Mercedes says. Expect that to come out close to the end of the year. <v Announcer>For more car related news, go to cars.com or our blog kickingtires.net.
