Pickuptrucks.com's Mark Williams heads to the 2012 Work Truck Show to see some of the unique vehicles.
(glass shattering) I'm Mark Williams with PickupTrucks.com and we're here in Indianapolis at the work truck show, checking out tons and tons of new pickup trucks and new products.
Ford has brought a lot of cool stuff here this year, but I think our favorite, this Ford F-650 dump truck. Now it's available with a 6.8 liter V10, the same V10, that was available in past super duties. But now it's available in the big F-650. There's a reason for this and it's to save money to those municipalities and those commercial fleets that are interested in buying something this strong, and this heavy duty. Ford, also announced that the 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine that's been so wildly popular and the F-150 is also going to be available in the new commercial van, the transit that's coming here to the U.S in 2013. This show isn't just about serious hard work. It's also about serious hard play, and this might be the best example we've seen right behind me, if it looks familiar, it should. It's the JK8 made for red jacket by VWERKS, 40 inch tires, four inch suspension lift, one inch body lift, custom fender cutouts, custom front and rear bumpers, a $30,000 paint job. We had a chance to take this and drive it off road. One of our favorite memories, if we ever get a chance to do it again, we'll jump at the chance. Continuing their product assault here at the work truck show Ram truck has shown a brand new tradesmen, not completely brand new, but now offers four doors, both in quad cab and crew cab, as well as a new base engine 4.7 liter V8, and to get people to choose that 4.7 liter V8, they're basically throwing in the RamBox for free. Pricing for the regular cab has now been lowered to $23,000, pricing for the quad cab is right around $27,000, pricing for the crew cab, right around $29,000. Not everything here is supersized. We found this international TerraStar short wheel base, probably about 130 inches with this very cool truck bed on the back it's from J & J cost about $6000 - $7,000. And lets you do just about anything you want to do with a big giant heavy duty dump truck. Some of the vehicles here are about maximum security, like this Supreme armored Avenger SWAT vehicle, tons of cool features, just like you'd imagine as it sits about 17,500 pounds, that leaves about another 2000 pounds for payload. Some of the cool features include of course, vehicle is completely bulletproof. It's got multiple gun ports a 360 degree camera system and a raising spotters platform. GM commercial just announced their new CNG powertrain, which will be available on both Chevy and GMC, 2,500 HD models. Now the vehicle has a 17 gallon tank mounted in the of the bed, which should offer another, maybe 200 or 250 miles of extended range for a total of 650 miles. Now this is a bi-fuel fuel vehicle, which means it will have both gasoline and CNG availability. The Chevy or GMC Silverado or Sierra three quarter ton vehicle is only going to be offered in extended cab configurations, but you can get in 4x4 or 4x2 long bed or short bed. The vehicle itself they're taking orders for right now, but deliveries they're telling us won't happen until the end of 2012. This is a 2013 model.
