(upbeat music) Hi, I'm Kelsey Mays for Cars.com at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show with Lexus' most affordable car, the hybrid CT200h hatchback.
It's a car the brand has updated for 2014 with styling changes that should be familiar to anyone who's walked into a Lexus showroom lately. We'll take you through what changed. So about that styling, it's really dominated upfront by Lexus' spindle grille, which is similar to the grille on the IS and pretty much the rest of the brand's lineup, really overtakes the front here on this F Sport version of the CT200h at the auto show. There's also new LED daytime running lights and in back, you get things like new bumpers and a new rear spoiler. It's all good news for anyone shopping small, entry-level luxury cars because the CT is a lot more distinctive. Now it goes a little more in the direction of competitors like Mercedes' new CLA class. More distinctive actually than cars like the new Audi A3, the Acura ILX. Lexus says changes inside include things like new door trim paneling, the latest version of the brand's remote touch multimedia system, new steering wheel controls here, still some nice things like padding here along the sides of the center tunnel. There's stitching here along the upper part of the dashboard above the instruments, but it remains a very tight cabin inside the CT200h with seats that are kind of sunken into the ground. And a lot of space here taken up in terms of where your knees would normally go out to, not very big in back either. We'll show you. This is where the CT starts to feel a little more entry-level. I'm six feet tall, and that's where I'd sit to drive. The back seat here offers a decent headroom, but a seating position that's pretty low to the floor and pretty minimal legroom. My knees are really digging into the backs of the front seats here. Also materials, quality and features, they kind of take a dive back here, things like cheaper door panels here, top where your elbows might go. In this car at the auto show here, no center arm rest that folds down for your rear passengers. That was never a big draw for the CT, which boasts sharp handling for such a small hybrid. EPA gas mileage is 42 miles per gallon combined and starting pricing remains unchanged at just under $33,000, including the destination charge. The CT remains a unique fun to drive choice among entry-level luxury cars if you can do with some of those practicality constraints, it's on sale right now. (car engine revving)
