In the rapidly growing EV landscape, there is one vehicle that stands above them all. For the second year in a row, we have named the Hyundai Ioniq 5 cars.c
om's Best Electric Vehicle because it continues to hit a near-ideal balance of attributes, even against newer competitors. In addition to up to 303 miles of rated range and fast on the road charging, it offers a roomy, versatile cabin and a simple, easy-to-use control layout that still packs in lots of useful technology features. Charging via a 350 kilowatt DC fast charger is quick thanks to the Ioniq's 800 volt architecture that has proven to be a real world advantage when we've tested it alongside competitors. The average driver should find the Ioniq 5 plenty quick too. An all-wheel drive limited model did zero to 60 miles per hour in an impressive 4.72 seconds in our testing. The ride quality of EVs is often on the stiff side, but this is another area where the Ioniq 5 shines. Though it still rides firmly, it's noticeably more absorbent over bumps and rough pavement than many of its rivals. It also stacks up well from a pricing standpoint, starting at less than $45,000. Though it's not the least expensive EV you can buy, the Ioniq 5's wonderfully well-rounded nature has given it back-to-back wins as our Best Electric Vehicle.
