(gentle music) Honda's relationship with Greensburg in general, it first started off a little shaky because it's like as soon as Honda announced they were coming to Greensburg, the big announcement was made, property values all of the sudden went up ...
sky high. Rental values went up high. Everybody was gonna profit. That now you know that everything's calmed down, we're getting back into a general flow, and it's really turning out to be a positive move for Greensburg. It's offered a lot of the people in the community a positions as far as cleaning up out there all the way to actually building the facility. (gentle music) We're very excited to see the first car roll off the assembly line. We're just... You know, it's a great, great opportunity for Greensburg because we were in stall position in the community where we just, we couldn't get any new businesses in because there was just really nothing to offer. We were at a standstill on population, and with Honda coming in, now we have the opportunity to grow. (gentle music) I'd like to see some of the business come to downtown Greensburg because we are, we're losing a lot of the downtown business with Honda being a few miles out. You know of course, a lot of businesses are gonna go around the Honda area, the Honda site. It would be nice to see the retail and even the food chains come in, you know, restaurants, stuff like that. I'm just... It would be nice to have variety come into town because of Honda and the jobs that's been created. (gentle music) I think it's gonna cause problems like once Honda gets to going and we have the Honda dealership in town, I think it might hurt a few of the other dealerships in town because they're not offering the same economical fuel-efficient vehicles that Honda has offered over the years. (gentle music) As far as foreign auto makers being in the Midwest here in Greensburg, I really do not feel that it's gonna make a difference because we do have some manufacturers in town, and they are from... You know we have the Japanese. We have the French. We do have the foreign. You know, if it wasn't for the foreign factories here in Greensburg, you know, we wouldn't have much because our American-based factories, they're not doing very well. So you know, there's... I think at the end of the day when it's all said and done, we're not in the Dark Ages anymore where it's foreign or it's American or it's this or it's that. I think at the end of the day, a person just wants to, that person wants to go to work. They wanna do their job. They wanna do the job to the best of their ability, and they want a paycheck. (gentle music)
