Welcome to the 2027 Volvo EX60. The Swedish automaker's new mid-size, all electric crossover SUV. It's handsome, it's powerful and it has one heck of a competitive spec sheet. Let's get into it. (upbeat music) So here are some fast facts.
Up to 295 miles of range at a bare minimum, but upper level trims can have up to 400 miles of range, which is pretty good. The standard powertrain is a single rear mounted motor, 369 horsepower, but of course, dual motors and all wheel drive is available with up to 670 horsepower. So with all that power, you're probably gonna be flooring this thing a lot and I totally understand. So don't worry about that. We've got excellent charging options. So comes standard with a NACS charge port, which means you get access to Tesla's huge supercharging network, which at its peak, will return 370 kilowatts of DC fast charge. That's pretty good. Under ideal circumstances, Volvo says this will gain 173 miles in just 10 minutes. Pretty good. Now, it's not just a pretty face on the outside. We've got that familiar Scandi sweetness here on the inside. Very chic, very beautiful interior. Although it is a bit of a departure away from the existing EX40 and EX90 electric crossovers that Volvo already has out. For one, the steering wheel is now kind of of a squircle design rather than a standard three spoke. That is to give easier sight lines to the standard digital driver display here on the dash. Now as you'll probably notice, this is still very much a software defined vehicle in that there are not a lot of physical controls in here, just what you get on the steering wheel and this beautiful faceted center, smoked roller here on the center console with the track advance and track rewind button here, there. Now this is a new 15 inch OLED touch center infotainment that is now horizontal rather than usual, vertical that we've seen on Volvos for, like, I don't know, about the past decade. This does come with wireless apple car play and Android Auto as standard and it's got Google built in, so that's pretty good. Now this would not be a Volvo without super comfortable seats, excellent passenger space and there's a whole lot of cool little storage and little touches and cargo touches here and there. For one, hit this little button there and you've got a very deep, kind of hidden tilted storage here. And what you can't really see is there's also a deep shelf right above that. It's kind of leather lined and that is also where you can do your wireless device charging. There's a nice like kind of felt lined bin down here between the front passengers and where the cup holders. Hit that, comes right out. How smooth is that? I like it. Now, as comfortable as it was upfront, oh boy, it is super comfortable back here. I promise I'm not hamming it up when I say that this is one of the most comfortable backseat areas I've been in quite a while. Other than these extremely comfortable seats, we have excellent leg room. I'm sitting behind myself, I'm a 5' 11". Excellent head room, even with this glass panoramic roof and we got all sorts of clever packaging back here, as is your traditional Volvo. Nice little cup holders there and a little storage bin down there. It doesn't really retract or open or anything, but it's just kind of open to put your phone in or whatever. Dual USB-C chargers down there, heated seats back here, vents, everything. Just a really nice place to be. Cargo, cargo, cargo, we've got all the room you would ever need. Behind the second row. Tons of space for, with a flat floor for anything you might need to throw back here. Anything you wanna hide. There is a, kind of alarmingly deep, well under floor storage back here, two small side pockets on either side there and if you need more room than what is offered just here, well, fold those seats flat. No problem. It seems like not enough EVs these days actually offer a front storage space, which I like to call a frunk, but not so on the EX60. We have got an actual usable storage space up here. Not quite as large as something you'd get on like a Rivian or a Lucid, but this is more than usable enough for some groceries or just some stuff you might want to tuck away. Love a good frunk. Now, I quite like the new 2027 Volvo EX60, even though I haven't driven it yet and you can drive it pretty soon. Volvo says this will be hitting dealers here in the next couple months, at least some of the lower grades, with a starting price of just around $60,000 to start, which puts it squarely in the path of the upcoming BMW IX3 and the equivalent electrified Mercedes-Benz GLC. Yeah, this is shaping up to be quite the competitive segment. Oh, hey, make sure you're subscribed. We've got a lot more first looks and drives coming your way, and we really don't want you to miss out. (upbeat music)
