(upbeat music) I'm Dave Thomas with cars.com and we're here at the New York Auto Show with Kia's Coupe Concept. I recently did some wild Concepts from Kia that are usually hatchbacks. This is one of the first times I've done a two-door coupe.
So what exactly is Kia getting at with the coupe concept? It's about as big as a Honda Civic Coupe. We kinda think that would be their target demographic right there. They're putting 290 horsepower under the hood in a turbo four cylinder. The overall design is actually quite sophisticated. Even around back it kind of reminds me of an Acura, from the mid nineties. But Kia is making it bold, lots of big tail lights and headlights. It's really interesting design. One of the surprising parts about this Kia Concept is inside it only half resembles a Concept. What I mean by that is some of the stuff is really wild and avant-garde, and obviously will never make it to production. But things like the air vents and some of the buttons look like it could be in a current Kia right now. We're really impressed with Kia's new Concept. And actually, it looks like they could make it right now. Big question is, Kia's known for making good quality cars at a low price. Nothing too fancy, nothing too impressive, nothing too fast. Can they make something like this and will it sell? <v Announcer>For additional information on this car or any other, go to cars.com and our blog Kicking Tires.
