I'm Renee lane. I'm a cars.com producer. And this is Saaz and Oscar. Before I had the harnesses, riding with Saaz and Oscar was energetic. Dogs come. There were several events that made me, made me, made me rethink this riding arrangement.
The first one and most spectacular one was what, a good friend of mine called the pooptastrophe. Oscar had eaten something clearly that disagreed with him, and he was in the way back and managed to drag it all over the car. It was in the front seat by the time it was done. But the other thing is that occasionally when I'd come to a hard stop, they'd fall off the seats. And in talking to some people around here, they reminded me of how objects in cars continue the speed of travel. When the car itself comes to a halting stop, I was thinking Saaz and Oscar would probably continue going and they would not fare so well. Once I got the harnesses, Well, initially when I got the harnesses, they squirmed around a lot and Oscar was able to free himself a few times, but then they settled down. They, they, after I'd say a week, they, they, they were pretty chill about it. Calm and comfortable and It's safer (laughs). Getting them in the car is actually easy. I either open up the hatch and they fly in or I'll open up the back passenger door and they both hop up right away. Now they don't even run all over the car. They used to, you know, hop up in the front seat and it was kind of a hassle getting them in the backseat. Now they sort of sit in the back seat and wait for me. I.. usually put Saaz in first because Oscar's a follower. So I do Saaz first. I unclip her leash, slipped the harness over her head. And, then there's a little strap with the D-ring on the back of it and slip that around the seatbelt, which is buckled. Once I get her, in getting him to do the same as easy. They don't even squirm around that much. Umm, the whole process between letting them in the car and being able to shut that door and go the driver's seat. I, I'd say it's five minutes or less. It, It's something that I do every time now. And I don't even think about it. It's sort of like locking your front door. It's just a lot better for everybody this way.
