(car bonnet banging) (upbeat music) Hi, I'm Kelsey Maya for cars.com and we're at the $46,000 sports sedan showdown with cars.com "USA Today" and MotorWeek.
When you spend this much money on a luxury car, you're likely to find some pretty upscale features. We're gonna take you through just what to look for. (mid tempo music) Just about every car as keyless entry these days, but a common feature among luxury cars is keyless access systems. You come up, you leave the key fob in your pocket and the door unlocks on its own, you hop in, press a button to start the car (car door banging) (mid tempo music) Believe it or not, even among luxury cars, leather seats are not always standard. A lot of automakers have things that they call, stuff like leatherette or MB-tex from Mercedes, maybe another trade name as their base upholstery. Make sure you check it out at the dealership, decide if you wanna step up to real leather, which in the luxury segment, you probably do. (mid tempo music) Every luxury car has Bluetooth. Well, not every luxury car comes standard with Bluetooth, audio streaming, which streams music off of your smartphone onto the cars stereo. At the high end, some cars even have apps, things like Pandora or whether they all go on the center screen, they're pretty well integrated. Speaking of that center screen, that's typically where you're gonna find the backup camera, if your car comes equipped with that. Backup cameras come in all different shapes and sizes. Now some include tracers to show where your car is gonna go, some have those tracers that are able to move in trajectory with the steering wheel, and finally, some cars also add front parking sensors that make parking an absolute synch. Look at all of that, decide which ones you wanna pay for and which ones you can do without. The displays are nice, but make sure you also look for traditional luxury features and decide which ones are right for you. Things like dual power seats here for the driver and passenger, a memory setting for the driver's seat, dual zone, automatic climate control, heated seats, even things like a moon roof. A lot of these features are very widely available, but not all of them are standard, So keep an eye out for that. Not all of these vehicles have folding back seats and that's one of those features that you don't think you'll need, but then the once a year, you go to Home Depot, you really wished that you had bought a car with them. Some of these cars only have a center pass through in the backseat that allows for long narrow items like skis to fit through, others do have a 60, 40 split folding rear seats. Some cars combine that with a center pass through, and then there are even some cars that have a 40, 20, 40 split folding back seat with the center section that can come down for what's essentially a very low, large pass through. (mid tempo music) You may not be able to get all of these features together in the same car for this price, so consider which ones are important to you and check back on cars.com to see which one of these sedans we crowned the winner. (car engine revving)
