(Intro music) (tires squeal) Hi, I'm Joe Wiesenfelder, Executive Editor of Cars.com. I'm here with my friend, Martha Stewart, who you might've recognized.
We just took a quick tour around the auto show and I figured I'd ask Martha, what is it that you look for in a car? Well, I need several different kinds of vehicles for my lifestyle. I kinda live in my car. If people ask me, where do I live I say in my car. So I commute. So a commuter already is spending a lot of time. Needs comfort, practicality, space, safety, speed. Speed. So all those things, yes, speed sometimes. Speed limit. You seem to be drawn to boxy vehicles. I like the boxy vehicle because I have three dogs. I have various and sundry things to carry all the time. I do, you know, you do grocery shopping, you want to put things in and out easily. So those are those, I'm always attracted to the square boxy vehicle. I was surprised to hear you like pickup trucks. Oh I have a lot of pickup trucks. And I live on a farm. So we have trucks for lugging stuff, we have trucks for filling with stuff and dump trucks to dump things, and I even have things like hi-lows and tractors and you wouldn't even wanna know, my 95 horsepower tractor and my '65... Hi-lows like a forklift and such? Yeah! I have a I have a real hi-low. I know how to operate it too. We're a little curious. What was the car you learned to drive on? Oh! It was two-tone blue Chevy, four door, family car, family sedan. You wanna know the year? Only if you wanna share it. It's a pretty long time ago, (laughs) 1955 Chevy. '55, but cars have improved since then. But it was an old car when I learned. Okay. I didn't get my license in 1955. (laughs) Just to make that clear. Now, you said you didn't like being confined. You didn't like a big console. When the center console came in, I really sort of like turned off because I have a big pocket book and I have animals and I like to have a dog sitting between me and the driver or if I'm the driver, me and my guest. So, it's kind of, it's kinda hard with a console to put a big Chow-Chow dog there. Yeah and nowadays, And not safe either. Nowadays, if you want a bench front seat, you gotta buy somethin' used. Yeah, or you have to have that adjusted. Oh, you've done that? Oh, I have. I did that adjustment. It's not perfect, but it works (laughs). You're in New York and I think a person of your stature is probably being driven a lot. What do you prefer driving or being driven? I prefer driving a truck or an SUV 'cause I like the visibility. And I like to see around me and I don't like tinted windows. So, I'm a little peculiar about all of that stuff, but you get a good ride (laughs). That's what I'm looking for, a good ride. All right. Thank you. Thank you. (car engine revs)
