(engine starting) I'm getting ready to don Ford's Drugged Driving suit. It simulates the effects of what it's like to be on cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and ecstasy all at the same time. Let's see if I can be like Johnny Cash and walk the line.
Before I could walk the line, I had to get suited up. So this is meant to simulate the effects of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and ecstasy? Correct. So this should be sensational then. Yeah, so there's a different effects obviously from each drug, and it's just a simulation tool we use with teenagers. The main thing we teach the teens is make the right decisions before you get in the vehicle. So, this is just one of the things we do, and it's kind of fun for the teens, but it's a serious matter. So, you ready? I'm ready. <v Instructor>Alright. <v Matt>The apparatus required several implements to disorient you, including ankle weights, wrist weights, elbow braces, a neck brace, knee braces, earphones, and disorienting goggles. The difficulty level really depended on the goggles. They gave me two pairs of goggles to wear. The first was meant to simulate a drug experience. I did okay on that one. Six... Seven... Eight... The second pair added alcohol to the equation. That didn't go as well. Pick a line. Which, which line should I, should I take? You should take the correct one. Go ahead and walk the line. (Matt laughs) <v Matt>How close am I to the... Oh, I'm busted. (both laughing) Okay. So that didn't go so well. Ford still thought it might be a good idea to put me behind the wheel of their new super car, the Ford GT. Ah, virtually, anyway. I got behind the wheel in the drunk goggles and the drugged suit. The drunk goggles are very disorienting. I could barely see the steering wheel, let alone the track. I'm told I didn't make it to the second turn before I left the track and spent the rest of my time doing donuts in the infield. (rattling) What was that? Based on my experience here, I wouldn't recommend anyone get behind the wheel of a car while they're on drugs. And I definitely wouldn't recommend anybody get behind the wheel of the car while they're in a Drugged Driving suit. (trunk slams)
