CARS.COM

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3,500 model-year 2011-16 Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks and 4Runner SUVs equipped with accessory hood scoops installed by Southeast Toyota Distributors or SET dealers

The Problem: The adhesive attaching the hood scoop may weaken, allowing the hood scoop to detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will mechanically fasten the scoop to the hood for free.

What Owners Should Do: SET will begin notifying owners Aug. 28. Owners can call SET at 954-429-2000, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
