Vehicle Overview The Tiburon was restyled last year, but the only notable exterior change this year is a standard rear spoiler. The Tiburon is a front-drive hatchback coupe based on the previous-generation Elantra. A redesigned model based on the new Elantra is expected for 2002.
Exterior The two-door Tiburon has a sculpted, flowing shape that some viewers love and others despise. A face-lift last year included four projector beam headlamps, built-in fog lamps, new fenders and a hood with prominent character lines.
Interior Typical of a small coupe, the Tiburon seats four and has a split rear seat that folds for additional cargo space. Cloth upholstery is standard, and leather is optional. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, and power locks, windows and mirrors.
Under the Hood The Tiburon uses the same 140-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the Elantra. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and a four-speed automatic is optional. Antilock brakes also are optional.
