Looks like: Lamborghini might finally have a new design style
Defining characteristics: Four doors, infinite badness
Ridiculous features: Four doors
Chance of being mass-produced: There’s no official word, but we’d guess chances are high
Lamborghini says this is a design study. We say it’s awesome. The Estoque — which is the name of the sword a bullfighter uses — is a super-sports sedan, according to the folks at Lamborghini. They make this statement without any nod as to what would reside under the engine cover, but they do say it’s an all-wheel-drive, mid-engine layout like the current Murcielago and Gallardo.
That being the case, we thoroughly expect Lamborghini could drop the V-12 or V-10 from those cars into the Estoque if it so desired.
What really makes us happy is that Lamborghini is finally going in a new direction with its design, away from the sharp Countach lines that have dominated its lineup since the 1970s. We’d like to see the coupes follow this design language, too. The Estoque manages to look sexy and sophisticated, yet it’s still uniquely a Lamborghini. With both Maserati and Ferrari getting more voluptuous in their designs with the recent Gran Tourismo and California, respectively, Lamborghini seems to be following quite nicely.
