Vehicle Overview The Taurus X is a seven-passenger crossover that resembles a station wagon. Like the related Taurus sedan, the Taurus X has midsize dimensions that approach full-size. It comes in base SEL, midrange Eddie Bauer and top-level Limited trims. The Taurus X competes with the Dodge Journey, Subaru Tribeca and Mazda CX-9.
New for 2009 The Taurus X gets two new safety features: SOS-Post Crash Alert and Emergency Brake Assist. The SOS-Post Crash Alert unlocks the vehicle doors and activates the horn and hazard lights when the crossover’s airbags are deployed. Emergency Brake Assist provides extra braking force during panic braking.
Exterior The Taurus X sports a three-bar chrome grille, similar to the Edge. The bumper integrates a broad air dam and fog lamps with metallic surroundings. In back, the Taurus X’s clear taillights mimic those on the Fusion. At 200.3 inches long and 74.9 inches wide, the Taurus X is the longest of the group.

Interior A variety of seating configurations can accommodate up to seven people. The optional second-row captain’s chairs recline, fold-down and flip forward with a single lever to provide access to the third row — which is tight at best. The Taurus X has an accommodating 146 cubic feet of passenger space, making it the largest of the group. Behind the third row is 15.8 cubic feet of cargo space; flipping that row down expands the space to 47 cubic feet, which is just a little less than the CX-9.
