Nissan says it will begin delivering a limited number of Leaf all-electric vehicles this December, with production ramping up after that. If you’re interested in buying a Leaf, Nissan is accepting reservations with a $100 refundable deposit.

Pricing won’t be announced until April, so you can cancel if a Leaf costs you a fortune. It is expected run somewhere in the low $20,000s after a $7,500 federal tax credit.

You can sign up at NissanUSA.com, but you will be behind roughly 50,000 people who’ve already put down the deposit.

Nissan will provide everything you need when you buy the Leaf, including the home charger and installation by a company that also arranges for the necessary permits from local governments.

With a $98 million grant from the Department of Energy, Nissan will also build 6,510 public recharging stations in Seattle, San Diego and Tucson, Ariz., as well as sites in Tennessee and Oregon. This should tempt car buyers in those areas to give the Leaf a look.
