Whenever we post about prices of luxury cars, we realize that for many readers, the prices seem outrageous. But to the buyers in this segment, $78,050 for the redesigned 2011 Audi A8 is a pretty good deal.
The price is just $2,050 more than the outgoing 2010 model and is below the starting price of V-8-powered all-wheel-drive competition from German rivals like the BMW 750i xDrive ($85,000) and Mercedes-Benz S550 ($96,650). You can compare the three here.
The long-wheelbase version of the A8, the A8L, starts at $84,000. Neither price includes $850 in destination charges. The A8 goes on sale in November.
Standard equipment on the A8 includes 19-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, Bose surround-sound system, navigation, handwriting recognition for car controls, 8-inch center screen and 7-inch driver information display.
Options haven’t been priced yet but include full LED headlights, a Driver Assistance Package with technology like adaptive cruise control, a Premium Package with massaging seats, Bang & Olufson sound system and a Rear Seat Entertainment Package with two 10-inch LCD screens and Bluetooth headphones.
