Dodge made a splash today at the first media day of the Chicago Auto Show by debuting R/T versions of all its models. These high-performance trims feature unique bodywork, and in the case of the Durango SUV, an upgraded engine option, the Hemi.

But what if you just want the R/T looks of the Durango R/T but don’t want to pay for the added horsepower and downgraded mileage? Dodge has introduced yet another trim level, the Heat.

This brings the trim count on Durango to six, with the Heat positioned just above the base model Express in terms of price, starting at $30,295 for rear-wheel drive and $32,295 for all-wheel drive.

What do you get for the price? Besides the 295-horsepower V-6, the Heat has unique 20-inch wheels and a dual exhaust. The aggressive grille, fog lamps, body -colored grille and body kit, and lowered stance all mimic the R/T.

The Heat is also five-passenger-only like the R/T, not packing a third row. The rest of the Durango lineup does have three rows, adding more cargo room. The V-6 can tow 6,300 pounds and gets 16/23 mpg city/highway for rear-wheel drive and 16/22 for all-wheel drive.
