2011 Toyota Camry: What's New

Vehicle Overview

The Camry received a mild update last year, with a larger four-cylinder drivetrain and more standard safety features being the highlights. Trim levels include the base model as well as the LE, sport-tuned SE and upscale XLE. The Camry Hybrid is covered separately in Cars.com’s Research section. Camry competitors include the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Malibu.

New for 2011
There are no significant changes, following the 2010 update.

Exterior
There were some exterior changes last year, but they were hardly radical.

Base and LE models have steel wheels with plastic covers, while the XLE gets 16-inch alloy wheels. The Camry SE has 17-inch wheels, a meshlike grille and additional lower body cladding.

Interior
The Camry seats five and comes with standard cloth seats.  Express up/down operation for all windows, a feature typically reserved for premium cars, is now standard.

Under the Hood
Mechanical features include:

  • Standard 169-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and six-speed manual transmission
  • Optional 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6
  • Optional six-speed automatic transmission (standard with V-6)

Safety
Standard safety features include:

  • Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes
  • Side curtain airbags
  • Side-impact airbags for the front seats, dual front airbags and a driver’s knee airbag
  • Traction control and an electronic stability system
