2012 Fiat 500 Priced at $15,500, Dealerships Announced

Fiat’s subcompact Mini Cooper competitor, the 2012 Fiat 500 (Cinquecento), was priced today at $15,500, excluding an undisclosed destination fee.
The Fiat 500 will come in three trim configurations: Pop, Sport and Lounge.
All will come standard with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder with MultiAir technology, power locks and windows, power heated side mirrors, electronic stability control, cruise control, air conditioning with filtration system, and seven-airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag.
The $15,500 Pop trim comes with 15-inch wheels and a five-speed manual transmission standard. It also comes in four interior color combinations and 14 exterior color options.
The Sport trim starts at $17,500 and adds a Bose stereo system, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, 16-inch alloy wheels and a sport-tuned suspension. The Lounge’s sporty interior is only available in black.
The Pop and Sport trims can get a six-speed automatic transmission for an additional $1,000.
The top-of-the-line Lounge trim comes with all the features of the other trims as well as the automatic transmission, automatic climate control, a glass roof and six different interior colors. The Lounge starts at $19,500. Lounge and Sport trims also come with Fiat’s Blue&Me, a voice-controlled multimedia system that connects with Bluetooth-enabled phones and USB-connected devices. It’s similar to Ford’s Sync system.
Fiat has learned a thing or two from Mini about a la carte options pricing. In the Fiat, a la carte options can quickly inflate the 500’s price. Adding some convenience features like heated front seats and a navigation system will bring the Fiat’s price north of $20,000 quickly. Still, a fully loaded 500 has nearly the same price as an entry-level 2011 Mini Cooper ($19,400).
The Fiat 500 can be ordered later this year and should be available at dealerships early in 2011. A Fiat 500C (cabrio) model will be available in spring 2011. Fiat also announced the dealerships where the 500 will be sold. We list them below:
