CARS.COM — Nissan vehicles affected by service bulletin:

  • 2013 Nissan Altima (four-cylinder engine)
  • 2014 Nissan Altima (four-cylinder engine)
  • 2015 Nissan Altima (four-cylinder engine)
  • 2014 Nissan Rogue
  • 2015 Nissan Rogue
  • 2016 Nissan Rogue

Does not apply to Rogue Select models.

The problem: The continuously variable automatic transmission may shake, shudder, bump or vibrate during normal operation in certain Nissan vehicles, including select Altimas and Rogues. This is due to either a faulty valve body inside the transmission or the CVT needing to be replaced.

Corrective action: Nissan dealers will either replace the transmission or the valve body inside it. If a new valve body is installed, a new oil pan with an additional magnet will also be installed to collect excess metal fragments that develop over time as a result of normal transmission operation.

Warranty info: This action will be done free of charge under this service campaign. Eligibility depends upon the vehicle’s identification number and whether certain codes are present in the drivetrain control module.

What owners should do: Call your local Nissan dealer with your VIN to determine if it’s involved in this service bulletin. You can also call Nissan at 800-647-7261 or NHTSA at 888-327-4236. Reference TSB No. 15-084A.
