2013 Infiniti JX35 Priced at $40,450
To recap, the seven-passenger 2013 Infiniti JX35 will start at $40,450, excluding a $950 destination charge. The large crossover is powered by a 265-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard; intelligent all-wheel drive is an affordable $1,100 option. Both front- and all-wheel-drive versions get an estimated 17/23 mpg city/highway, and premium gas is recommended.
There aren’t many car-based three-row luxury crossovers that compete with the JX. There’s the 2012 Acura MDX ($42,930), 2012 Audi Q7 ($46,250) and a comparably equipped 2012 Buick Enclave ($41,910 with leather and sunroof). The third-row seats in the Q7 and MDX aren’t all that usable, though the Buick has good third-row space. The third-row space in the JX35 seems promising and will likely fall in between the Enclave and MDX.
In terms of pricing and features, the 2012 MDX is probably what Infiniti benchmarked when it designed the JX35; specs and pricing match up, though the JX is few hundred dollars less expensive when comparing features. The Enclave is comparable to the entry-level JX35, but it doesn’t offer the high-end safety or luxury features found on the top-of-the-line JX.
The JX comes well-equipped with automatic xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights, fog lights, power folding heated mirrors, power moonroof, power liftgate and 18-inch alloy wheels.
In the cabin, the JX gets an eight-way power driver’s seat, six-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 7-inch display, iPod connectivity, a passive entry system with push-button start, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system.
In addition, you can add a stunning $12,760 worth of options to the JX35 when the vehicle is equipped to the gills, giving it a range-topping $54,220 price. That’s still less than the MDX’s top $54,455 price, however.
A Premium Package ($4,950) adds an 8-inch display, navigation, voice recognition, real-time traffic/weather information, Around-View Monitor, 13-speaker Bose stereo, Bluetooth streaming audio, driver’s seat lumbar support and maple wood trim accents.
A Theater Package ($1,700) can be added to the Premium Package and includes dual 7-inch color monitors in the second row, wireless headphones and a remote control.
A Driver Assistance Package ($2,200) adds adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot warning, heated steering wheel and remote engine start; you must have the Premium Package to add this package.
A Deluxe Touring Package ($2,550) adds 20-inch wheels, a 15-speaker Bose audio system, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and rain-sensing wipers. The Deluxe Package can’t be combined with the Driver Assistance Package.
A Technology Package ($3,100) adds lane departure warning, blind spot intervention and pre-crash seat belts (you must add the Premium, Theater, Deluxe and Technology packages to have this package).
