Vehicles Affected: About 263 model-year 2007-2009 Lamborghini Gallardo coupes and Spyders, and 404 model-year 2006-2010 Murcielago coupes and roadsters, all fitted with carbon ceramic brakes.
The Problem: In two separate recalls of the Gallardo and Murcielago, the stainless-steel screws that secure the brake rotors may fail after being exposed to salty conditions; this could result in a reduction in braking ability and increase the risk of a crash.
The Fix: For both recalls Lamborghini will notify owners starting in November, and dealers will replace the affected screws for free.
What Owners Should Do: Owners can call the automaker at 866-681-6276, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.
