The Audi A7, a large four-door hatchback conceived along the same lines as BMW’s 5 Series Gran Turismo, combines a coupelike profile with the comfort of a sedan and the practicality of a station wagon, Audi says. The A7 slots between the A6 and A8 sedans in Audi’s lineup. Competitors include the 5 Series GT and Porsche Panamera.
Performance variants of the A7, the S7 and new RS 7, are powered by turbocharged V-8 engines and covered separately in the Cars.com Research section. New for 2014 A turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 is a new engine choice for the A7. With 240 horsepower and 428 pounds-feet of torque, the diesel 3.0 TDI model achieves EPA-estimated fuel economy of 24/38 mpg city/highway. A rear bench seat was optional last year but for 2014 it’s standard, resulting in seating for five. Exterior Highlights
