Vehicles Affected: Approximately 26,000 model-year 2014 Fiat 500L cars

The Problem: In rare circumstances, the vehicles may hesitate momentarily when the driver initiates an accelerator pedal input after easing up almost to the point of release, increasing the risk of a crash. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said in a statement that the problem was discovered during a review of data and that it is unaware of any related accidents or injuries.

The automaker added that if the condition occurs, drivers can resolve it by fully releasing the pedal and then reinitiating pedal input.

The Fix: Dealers will update the software calibration that helps control accelerator-pedal function for free.

What Owners Should Do: FCA did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 for more info or go to www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
