Vehicles Affected: Approximately 191,000 model-year 2014 Ford Fiesta subcompact cars manufactured between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2013, at the Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico; model-year 2013-14 Fusion sedans manufactured between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2013, at the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico; model-year 2014 Fusion sedans manufactured between June 18 and Oct. 31, 2013, at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan; and model-year 2013-14 Lincoln MKZ sedans manufactured between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2013, at the Hermosillo plant
The Problem: The pawl spring tab in the side door latch could fracture or break, which could cause the door to not latch, increasing the risk of an injury. This is an expansion of a previous recall from 2015, and Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue.
The Fix: Dealers will replace all four side door latches with a more robust service door latch for free.
What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 for more info.
