Car Seats Affected: Approximately 33,139 versions of the Combi child safety seats. The models affected include the Coccoro (model number 8220 seats manufactured Jan. 6, 2009, through Dec. 5, 2012), the Zeus 360 (model 8836 seats manufactured Feb. 25, 2009, through May 24, 2012) and the Zeus Turn (model number 8815 seats manufactured July 15, 2007, through March 25, 2009).
The Problem: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reporting that the harness webbing in these seats fails to meet federal breaking strength requirements; in the event of a crash, the child may not be adequately restrained.
The Fix: Combi will provide free harness replacement kits and instructions.
What Owners Should Do: Combi will notify all registered owners by Feb. 6. Register your car seat here. Owners can call Combi at 800-543-7734 or visit www.combi-intl.com. They can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236 for more information.
