2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 636,800 model-year 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks

The Problem: Electric power steering assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist, potentially increasing the difficulty of steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, as well as increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the electric power steering module software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 800-462-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit NHTSA's website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
