In conjunction with the debut of the 2015 WRX STI at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Subaru announced that a Launch Edition (above) of the sedan will be available for only three months. The car hits dealerships in April 2014.
The three-month sales window could conceivably be shorter because Subaru is limiting sales of the Launch Edition to 1,000 units. All Launch Edition models have gold 18-inch BBS wheels, a short-throw shifter, black Alcantara seats with blue accents and WR Blue Pearl paint.
The 305-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder carries over from the prior WRX STI, but Subaru spokesman Dominick Infante said the throttle tuning is more aggressive than before. Compared to the prior STI, weight is up about 60 pounds.
Pricing hasn’t been announced for any of the STI trim levels, but Subaru said it should be in line with the outgoing model. The prior version’s starting price is around $35,000.
