CARS.COM

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 12,300 model-year 2016-17 Mercedes-AMG GLE43 coupe SUVs and model-year 2017 GLE43 SUVs

The Problem: The engine control unit and transmission control unit software may have compatibility conflicts that cause the engine to shut down while the driver brakes to a stop or accelerates following an Eco start, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the engine and transmission control unit software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners in September. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
