Buick’s new convertible will go on sale early next year with a starting price of $33,990, including a destination fee. The 2016 Cascada is based on the Opal Cascada from GM’s European brand and is a dedicated convertible model with a power soft-top; Buick says operation takes 17 seconds and can be done at speeds up to 31 mph.

The base model will be well-equipped. Standard features include LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, a 7-inch touch-screen multimedia system with navigation, a heated steering wheel, a rearview camera, remote start, heated leather-appointed front seats and a rear park assist system.

The Premium trim starts at $36,990, including a destination charge, and adds forward collision warning, lane departure warning, front and rear park assist, and automatic windshield wipers.

Buick is pitting the Cascada against luxury convertibles, like the Audi A3 Cabriolet, which features a lower level of equipment but starts at $37,525, including destination.
