CARS.COM
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1,700 model-year 2017 Audi A5 cabriolets and S5 cabriolets
The Problem: A component within the front, rear and rear center seat belt retractor pretensioners may detach after the seat belt retractor pretensioner is deployed in a crash. Although the seat belt will operate as intended in a crash, the pretensioner component may become a projectile within the cabin, increasing the risk of an injury.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the seat belt retractors and pretensioners for free.
What Owners Should Do: Audi manufacturer Volkswagen will begin notifying owners in May. Owners can call the automaker at 800-253-2834, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
