We joined Foutz Motorsports last week as they ran a relatively stock (only modifications were the springs and full roll cage) version of the all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor in the Mint 400 Best In the Desert off-road race outside Las Vegas. Ford is using the race series to see how much desert and racing punishment the new Raptor can take. So far so good.
The Raptor was entered in the Stock Factory class, which means much of the truck and all the drivetrain must remain as it would be if purchased by a regular consumer off a dealer lot. The truck we raced in for half the Mint 400 (about 110 miles) had a fully-functioning factory dash, air conditioning, electric windows, cruise control and Sirius XM radio.
We’ll have more stories and videos of how the new Raptor performed to come.
