Vehicles Affected: Approximately 9,000 model-year 2017 Maserati Quattroporte luxury sedans equipped with V-6 engines and Ghibli luxury sedans
The Problem: Due to an engine software problem, at slow speeds such as stop-and-go traffic, the transmission may unexpectedly shift into Neutral or Park, or the engine may shut off, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will re-flash the software for the engine control module for free.
What Owners Should Do: Maserati will begin notifying owners May 3. Owners can call the automaker at 877-696-2737, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
