CARS.COM — Mercedes-Benz’s recently redesigned E-Class didn’t have to wait long for a high-performance version from the automaker’s AMG outfit. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 is making its debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show.
Styling cues that distinguish the AMG E43 from the regular E-Class are subtle, but performance-focused. Those include three large, functional openings in the front bumper, with crossbars through the outer two; a single set of bladed wings extending out across the chrome-dotted grille from the large three-pointed Mercedes star; 19-inch alloy wheels; dual split exhaust openings; and a trunk-lid spoiler. Performance cues inside include red contrast stitching on the leather seats, console, doors, dash and flat-bottom sport steering wheel, as well as carbon fiber on the dashboard below the massive multimedia display.
